Booking your cruise - Be an early bird, or last minute... You decide!

Since cruising has become ever increasingly popular, ships are booking up fast, with people keen to experience the cruising life, this maybe past cruisers, or people who are new to cruise, however some of the best deals have been found just before the ship is set to depart....

Book in advance if;

  • You are set to specific dates for example, family celebrations, school holidays or other important dates, such as wedding's
  • You are eager to reserve a specific cabin type, this maybe the exact cabin number you have stayed in previously, or it maybe just be down to the cabin location on the ship
  • Itineraries such as World Cruise's, or a sector of a World Cruise, regions such as Antarctica or The Galapagos Islands have limited itineraries and tend to sell out very quickly.
  • As well as early booking saving's, on board spending money, free or reduced airfares, free or reduced car parking at the cruise port or maybe even free transportation to the cruise port, there is always the opportunity to spread the cost of your cruise over the months leading up to your cruise

Book later, or last minute if;

  • You are flexible on your travel date
  • You have the funds available to pay for your cruise holiday in full
  • You have no specific cabin preferences and are willing to have your cabin number allocated by the cruise line in some cases
  • You are flexible as to your dining time in the evening
  • You are flexible as to your itinerary, and destinations that you will visit
  • You are not looking for deal, with any free on board spending money, free or reduced car parking or any offers with transport to the cruise port, as the majority of these would have expired...
'Either way, a cruise remains a stylish and exciting way to holiday. Opportunity to visit many destinations, and experience amazing facilities, on board these floating resorts!'

Cruising - My top 4 reasons why you should....

1) Excellent Value for Money - So you've worked hard all year and you want the best value holiday, a break from the norm, surrounded by luxury, relaxation, whilst visiting new and exciting destinations, a cruise ticks all of these boxes. In general the cost of a cruise includes all meals, snacks and more often than not, the facility of food being served for 24 hours a day. A vast array of both daytime and evening entertainment to cater for all ages, use of superb facilities, and transport is provided between travel destinations.

2) Wake up in a different destination everyday, whilst only unpacking once - A great opportunity to visit major European cities, or take it easy in the Mediterranean, maybe further a field? Why not try the Caribbean or sample the Far East? - The world is your oyster! Simply unpack your case once and let your floating hotel take you from destination to destination!

3) Great for Families -  So you've read the brochures, mesmerized by the pictures of white sandy beaches, and the image of total relaxation, but what is there to do for the children? What about the grandparents? How can a holiday really satisfy everybody? On a cruise from babies up to teenagers and not forgetting grandparents are well catered for. Ships offer facilities such as a babysitting service with a nominal charge, structured club's with various activities to suit all ages. Ships produce Broadway style shows to suit all the family, as well as live act's and for the grown up's there is the casino's and nightclub's to party until the wee hours. During the day, when not ashore, there's the pools, some with waterslide's and daytime shows and activities to ensure nobody is bored!

4)  Cruising is Social - If you love to meet people from around the country -- and the world -- cruising provides a wonderful opportunity to make
new friends. You'll meet people at your dinner table, at the piano bar or by the pool. The person seated next to you might be from Paris, Texas, or Paris, France; London, Ontario, or London, England. Kids can find playmates their own age during youth activities, so they're not always with adults or their older or younger siblings. Looking for Mr. or Ms. Right? There's plenty of examples of long-term relationships beginning during a holiday at sea. On a cruise it's just so easy to meet people you are sure to make new friends.

Final farewell to Costa Concordia.

Final farewell to Costa Concordia.......

The 290- metre corroding cruise ship was towed from Giglio, the Italian island its struck two-and-a-half years ago - which was dubbed as a 'maritime disaster', that killed 32 people

Above - A crowd watches Costa Concordia as she's finally risen....

She has now began to make her final voyage, over four days to Genoa, northern Italy, where I believe she will be scrapped.

Along the way, she will pass through almost 200 miles of Mediterranean Seas.

The legacy of Costa Concordia, will remain in some aspect's, as she will be broken up and used for spare parts.

In my opinion, a truly beautiful ship, will finally be laid to rest, and the view from the Giglio shore, will I am sure, be once again as pretty as a post card :)
